Melbourne

Melbourne is set around the shores of Port Phillip Bay. The beautiful city laid out in a grid like large rectangle and boasting a lively and cosmopolitan life and culture is perched on the northern banks of the Yarra River, about five kilometres from the bay and is one of the most popular travel destinations of the world sue to its sheer beauty, great attractions and one of the best food and wines available to satisfy the gourmet taste buds.

How to Reach
Melbourne Airport is serviced by 23 international airlines and is connected with most of the important cities of the world. The airport is approximately 22 kilometres from the city - approximately 25 minutes drive. For reaching the city from the airport, there is of course the state-of-the-art Skybus Super Shuttle, the only bus service linking the airport to the city. Local transport is easy and convenient in Melbourne thanks to an excellent train and tram system, and a good and efficient taxi service.





What to do
Melbourne has everything for everyone. World-class arts and cultural heritage institutions, historic buildings, nature and wildlife at its very best, beautiful gardens, underwater world, outstanding and architecturally significant National Trust homes and museums, you name it and Melbourne has it. Among the more popular tourist attractions are Como house (a colonial mansion set in five acres of garden at Toorak) and Rippon Lea (the last of Australia's great privately owned nineteenth century suburban estates). The World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building, an outstanding example of the great 19th century international exhibition movement is a must see. Melbourne Museum houses some of the best artifacts. The four-kilometre Golden Mile Heritage Trail is also frequented by visitors.

Nearby attractions
Under an hour's drive from Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is famous for its wines and fresh food, breathtaking and panoramic scenery and some great accommodation choices. Mornington Peninsula and its rolling hills of olive groves, vineyards and seascapes are within easy reach of Melbourne, by car, ferry, train or bus. Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges are known for its indulgent getaways, mineral springs, wineries and great food. The Goldfields is famous for its magnificent historic towns, buildings and living examples of gold history. Gippsland lets you experience the coastal wilderness, national forests, great restaurants and spectacular sites.
