Stockholm

Stockholm is a vibrant and lively city and one of the most popular tourist destinations of Europe. The capital city of Sweden has a large number of attractions and interest points that invite and entice tourists of all hues to make a visit to the city in all its grandeur and beauty.

How to Reach
Stockholm has direct air links with a large number of cities around the world. Stockholm Arlanda Airport, 40 kms north of the city is served by 70 international airlines, offering some 500 international direct flights. Public transport is fairly well developed, buses, commuter trains and the underground will take you just about anywhere. Stockholm is relatively easy to get around compared to many big cities. International visitors are required to have proper documentation like passport and visa to enter the city portals.




Where to Stay
Stockholm has everything for everyone in terms of choice of accommodation. Small or large, grand or cozy, luxurious or simple each sort of hotel, youth hostel, Bed and Breakfast accommodation are available in the city. You can also plan to stay at a campsite in Stockholm to enjoy proximity to nature and easy access to a big city, its vibrancy, and its wealth of activities.


Major Attractions
Stockholm is a beautiful city. The magnificent heights of Soder and Gamla Stan, dating from the Middle Ages, offer great panoramic and scenic view of the city. There are also national parks and a variety of other green oases perfect for relaxation, play and picnicking. The Bergianska botanical garden, the ecological park, palace parks and many more add to the fun element in your vacation. These parks are also surrounded by cultural points of interest such as statues and important buildings. Stockholm has around 100 museums. National Museum and The Museum of History, Hallwyl Palace, the Museum of the Post Office and Ulriksdal´s Orangery are the main attractions. Other major points of interest are Kulturhuset, Skansen, Globen, Eriksdalsbadet, Grona Lund, and Vasa Museum.





Gourmet and Night life
Stockholm is a delight for food connoisseurs with a huge variety of food and drinks. All kinds of international cuisine- Asian or North American, Mediterranean or Swedish are available in the most exotic and fancy restaurants as well as relatively less expensive food joints and eateries. The city also witnesses opening of new exhibitions; premieres of plays, films and shows; events of all kind every week and with large number of night clubs, cafes and bars has an active and vibrant night life.


Shopping
The biggest shopping areas stretch from Hotorget to Gamla Stan, via Drottninggatan, and from Hamngatan, Kungsgatan, and Biblioteksgatan down to Stureplan. You can find some great jewellery, designer dresses, artifacts, purses and bags, ornaments and mementoes of your visit in these places.
